At the Fall 2018 ACS National Meeting in Boston, Professors Greg Liu and John Matson were both named PMSE Young Investigators by the Polymeric Materials Science and Engineering (PMSE) Division of the ACS.

This award recognizes young investigators from academia, government, and industry who are within seven years of having completed their graduate or postdoctoral studies and have made significant contributions to their respective fields. This year's group includes 21 young scientists who have made significant contributions to their fields within Polymer Science and Engineering. These scientists and engineers are emerging as leaders in the fields of synthesis, processing, characterization and physics of soft materials and their applications.

Liu and Matson are both assistant professors of chemistry in the College of Science, as well as core faculty member of MII.

Liu's group works on the design and innovation of polymers and nanomaterials for energy and environmental sciences. Matson's lab focuses on macromolecular and supramolecular chemistry with applications in biology, medicine and sustainability.
